At a recent talk organised by SMU Verts, held in conjunction with World Water Day, SMU Associate Professor of Science, Technology and Society Winston Chow shared with a virtual room of 50 student participants about Singapore’s last water rationing exercise in the 1960s, and steps taken by the national water agency PUB to anticipate changing risks and enhance our water resilience. He warned that history may repeat itself again should the people neglect the importance of water conservation. SMU Verts have three online events lined up for World Water Day to remind the student community about the importance of water saving including the talk with Assoc Prof Chow. They also encouraged students to wear blue to commemorate World Water Day and held a design contest to give students a creative avenue to promote water conservation.
