Commenting on the incident where a female netizen shared over social media how a BMW driver had allegedly conned a petrol station attendant, SMU Professor of Sociology and Dean of Students, Paulin Straughan remarked that while the woman had good intentions in helping the elderly staff – once the incident was posted online, things got out of hand quickly. Prof Straughan noted that instead of posting the incident on Facebook, the woman could have gone through proper channels such as approaching the petrol station, the police or even a Member of Parliament to feedback about the matter.
