Commenting on the finding by a study that said women with a higher salary than their husbands are less happy than those with a lower salary, SMU Assistant Professor of Sociology Aliya Hamid Rao opined it stemmed from the dissatisfaction that their earnings did not ‘buy them out’ of housework. She cited studies that showed women do more housework and childcare than their husbands even when they are the primary breadwinner.
