Strong Employment Outcomes

SOSS graduates are known to be bold, confident and articulate, and enjoy strong employability in a variety of careers, both in the public and private sectors. We continue to do well in the annual Graduate Employment Survey (GES) that was released on 28 February 2014, with a high proportion of SOSS graduates securing full-time employment within six months of graduation.

The GES is an annual survey on the employment conditions of graduates, 6 months after graduation. The results of this survey are published by the Ministry of Education with the aim of providing prospective students with timely and comparable data to assist them in making informed decisions on the undergraduate programmes that they wish to pursue in universities.

In the latest survey findings, about 9 in 10 SOSS graduates were economically active six months after graduation. 70% of them secured job offers from before graduation to within one month of graduation. In addition, 69% of them received two to six job offers.

The median basic monthly salary of an SOSS graduate was $3000, on par with that drawn by business graduates. SOSS graduates who obtained at least a Cum Laude earned a median basic monthly salary of $3200, which was comparable to or exceeded social science honours graduates from other local universities.
