Assistant Professor of Philosophy; Basket Coordinator for Modes of Thinking
Dr Matthew Hammerton joined SMU in 2018. He got his PhD from the Australian National University and his Masters of Philosophy from the University of Sydney. He specializes in moral philosophy and topics that his work covers include consequentialism, deontology, virtue ethics, meaning in life, moral reasoning, and Buddhist ethics. He has published articles in the Australasian Journal of Philosophy, Ethics, Inquiry, Journal of Ethics and Social Philosophy, Journal of Value Inquiry, Ratio, and Utilitas. He has also served as the Singapore delegation leader to the 2020 and 2021 International Philosophy Olympiads.
