Commenting on Donald Trump's victory in the US election, SMU Associate Professor of Political Science John Donaldson opined that crises in Russia and the Middle East could likely worsen under Trump’s administration. "Ukraine may collapse, as Republicans in the US Congress are highly reluctant to supply weapons to Ukraine. If Ukraine falls, we will see Putin's next moves, and I don’t think Trump will do much to stop him." Assoc Prof Donaldson also commented that Mr Trump would be more likely to tolerate Netanyahu’s oppression of the Palestinians, "which would undoubtedly heighten regional tensions”.
