This article quoted SMU Associate Professor of English Literature Kirpal Singh’s review of the book, Rabidranath Tagore: Selected Short Stories, Professor Mohammad A. Quayum’s translation of a set of short stories. His review praised Prof Quayum as an “industrious scholar whose energy seems indefatigable and whose love for his subject is obviously passionate”. It also spoke of Prof Quayum’s introduction to the translated book as one telling readers that “Tagore's stories encompass the vastness of human nature and the miscellany of vicissitudes and beliefs by which humans being both degraded themselves and triumphed over such degradation.”
