Commenting on young couples delaying plans to marry, buy property or have kids amid red-hot inflation, SMU Dean of Students and Professor of Sociology (Practice) Sociology Paulin Tay Straughan said it is natural for young people to put their life plans on hold especially when experts and government officials forecast a slowing economy or warn of a potential economic downturn. “For young adults who are looking for signs to go ahead and get married, have that first child or more children, they will look at these forecasts and act on them,” she added.
