During and after the Asian Financial Crisis in the late 1990s, deeply-rooted problems of corruption were highlighted in countries like Thailand, South Korea and Indonesia. This sparked growing pressure on Asian governments to aim for better transparency and accountability. But since then, there seems to be a disparity in progress. Some places like Singapore and Hong Kong have been more successful in the anti-corruption fight, while others like India have struggled. Can corruption be beaten across Asia?
