The National Day Parade this year will be postponed to Aug 21, due to stricter measures under Phase 2 (Heightened Alert). A ceremonial parade will be held on Aug 9 instead to mark Singapore’s 56th year since independence. In an interview, SMU Dean of Students and Professor of Sociology (Practice) Paulin Straughan discussed the significance and relevance of celebrating National Day, especially in 2021.
