Commenting on how the pandemic has affected those that have lost their jobs, or are mid-career individuals, SMU Dean of Students and Professor of Sociology (Practice) Paulin Straughan noted that through programmes offered by Workforce Singapore and SkillsFuture, many Singaporeans are able to retrain and reskill to prepare themselves for new employment opportunities. She added that the pandemic has also forced us to re-look at what are essential occupations and hopefully, more young talent will be drawn to these sectors.
