A new Social Science Research Council to chart strategies to develop social science and humanities research in Singapore has been established. SMU Provost Professor Lily Kong and Behavioural Sciences Institute Director Professor David Chan are members on the Council. Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam said the formation of the Council comes at a critical juncture in Singapore’s history and quality research in social science and humanities research will help find the most effective ways to sustain a vibrant, fair and resilient society. Professor Chan said such research will help improve the quality of life for people in Singapore.
