Commenting on rising night temperatures being a potentially major health issue in Asian metropolises, SMU Associate Professor of Science, Technology and Society Winston Chow explained how urban density results in warmer temperatures at night and create health problems. He also explained how strategies proposed by Hong Kong researchers can be applied to Singapore despite different weather conditions and urban layout. Prof Chow emphasised that throughout Southeast Asia, it is the secondary cities away from the capitals where consideration and forward thinking needs to be applied now, to avoid the same problems.
