SMU Assistant Professor of Psychology William Tov, as well as SMU Professor of Psychology and Director of the Behavioural Sciences Institute David Chan highlighted the importance of employee well-being, especially in the context of SMEs, due to their small sizes and the multiple roles of the employee. The professors suggested three areas that SME supervisors can focus on. First, developing good interpersonal interactions between employees and supervisors that enhance job satisfaction and emotions; second, establishing strong and cohesive work groups that foster good social relationships; and third, fostering an environment in which employees feel valued and respected.
