SMU Assistant Professor of Sociology (Education) George Wong said that neighbourly noise disputes may stem from factors such as sports facilities being located near homes and increasingly diverse lifestyles that create more chances for friction. He noted that such complaints are usually non-religious and stressed the importance of empowering community members to mediate conflicts, as they better understand local dynamics.
