Commenting on women building relationships with artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots, SMU postgraduate student Jerlyn Ho said AI relationships are not necessarily revolutionary modes of romantic autonomy for women but shed light on their dissatisfaction with cultural norms. Ms Ho added that these women might experience intimacy and romance outside traditional gender roles, suggesting these relationships could complement rather than replace existing notions of intimacy and potentially redefine how it is understood.
