Commenting on a study about the personal relationships of single adults, SMU Assistant Professor of Psychology Lester Sim, the lead author, said his interest in relationship transitions prompted him to examine singlehood, a stage often overlooked or undervalued within the spectrum of relationships. He observed that although singlehood is recognised as an important life stage, societal judgment of single individuals remains prevalent, reflecting how people often project their self-perceptions onto others.
