US President Donald Trump’s renewed bid for the Nobel Peace Prize has drawn nominations from Pakistan, Israel, and Cambodia, though conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza have undermined his “peacemaker” image. SMU Associate Professor of Political Science John Donaldson suggested these countries see flattering Mr Trump as a way to secure benefits or avoid repercussions, adding that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may also be seeking cover for his ongoing war in Gaza.
