The article highlighted a couple of new programmes at SMU. Students can look forward to a new Smart-City Management & Technology major in August 2017. This interdisciplinary major aims to nurture graduates who innovate solutions to urbanisation challenges by applying interdisciplinary knowledge across technology, social sciences and management. There are experiential learning opportunities to apply the solutions in state-of-the-art smart city initiatives. There is also a new major on Politics, Law and Economics (PLE) offered by SMU School of Social Sciences. This innovative major aims to prepare future leaders and thinkers with a deep understanding of global political and economic transformations and the legal frameworks and contexts within which such changes take place. SMU School of Social Sciences undergraduate Ow Ling Jun also shared her thoughts about how she has benefitted from the PLE programme and her future career plans.
