SMU Associate Professor of English Literature and Director of the Wee Kim Wee Centre Kirpal Singh shared his thoughts about Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s letter on the Rules of Prudence to People’s Action Party (PAP) Members of Parliament (MPs) after the general election. He thinks that it is a “good” letter and “one which every MP should take to heart because it sketches the PM’s major concerns about the conduct of PAP MPs”. Associate Prof Singh pointed out that the “2015 letter stresses even more stringently the issue of integrity and also, very significantly, humility”. Concluding on the topic, he says, “I think such a letter is appropriate especially for Government MPs where behaviour and conduct are always under very close scrutiny and in the public eye.”
