In a commentary, Dr Noeleen Heyzer, Distinguished Fellow, SMU School of Social Sciences and Lee Kong Chian Distinguished Fellow, and a member of the United Nations’ Secretary General’s High Level Advisory Board, discussed the reasons why Singapore's coronavirus cases had suddenly rocketed. She highlighted “the need to raise the bar for economic, social, environmental and gender justice to shape a post-COVID world that will be better prepared to prevent a medical crisis from turning into another human tragedy”. She hopes “that this pandemic will force a profound mindset change for people and our planet”.
