The findings of the 2021 Marriage and Parenthood Survey findings was released by the National Population and Talent Division (NPTD) on Monday (Oct 10). SMU Dean of Students and Professor of Sociology (Practice) Paulin Straughan and principal research fellow at the NUS Institute of Policy Studies Dr Mathew Mathews had been appointed as research consultants since the 2012 survey. Both told TODAY that the increasing receptiveness towards finding partners online has been seen from before the Covid-19 pandemic in tandem with the growing popularity of social media and online channels, though pandemic-related restrictions on face-to-face gatherings may have made such approaches even more pertinent.
