For SOSS alumna Siti Noormasliana Noorazman, her interest in policymaking and social advocacy has extended beyond the classroom into a meaningful effort to build connections between migrant workers and the wider community.
A Political Science and Communication Management graduate from the Class of 2026, Siti founded Project Candela, an initiative that aims to befriend migrant workers and create opportunities for greater connection and inclusion. Her experience at SMU, coupled with her growing interest in social advocacy, has shaped her aspirations to contribute meaningfully to the migrant worker community.
Today, Siti works as a research assistant at the Institute of Policy Studies, while continuing to explore her longer-term ambition of starting a non-profit organisation focused on migrant worker advocacy.
Her story is a reminder of how a social sciences education can extend beyond understanding society to inspire action within it.
