
A recent Blackbox Research survey showed that 90% of Singaporeans believe the country is moving in the right direction, the highest level in two years. Commenting on possible ways to further strengthen internal resilience, SMU Associate Professor of Sociology Alwyn Lim proposed enhancing education and skills training, fostering technology and entrepreneurship, avoiding over-regulation of high-growth sectors and simplifying rules to spur innovation. He also emphasised the importance of enhancing social cohesion and mobility, as well as encouraging marriage and parenthood.
