Commenting on the report published on Monday by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) which found projects for planting trees in historically unforested areas or suppressing wildfires in naturally fire-adapted ecosystems to be troubling, IPCC lead author and SMU Associate Professor of Science, Technology and Society Winston Chow said, "Green gentrification privileges wealthy urban residents in urban greening projects. It has a positive effect on property values."
