SMU hosted a forum entitled “China's Rising Influence in Southeast Asia: How Big, How Deep, How Positive?” on 6 Feb. The panellists, including Professor Wang Gungwu (NUS) and Professor David Shambaugh (The George Washington University), shared their views on topics such as the forces and policies that are widening China’s influence in Southeast Asia, the impact and responses in key countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, as well as the opportunities and risks that accompany it.
