In his inaugural lecture, "AI and the Future of Social Science," SMU Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Professor of Computational Social Science Professor Kenneth Benoit highlighted three key areas where AI will impact social science: knowledge transmission, production, and application. He emphasised the importance of social science in enhancing societal value and noted that while AI offers significant opportunities, it also presents serious challenges, requiring renewed interpretative skills for effective and safe use.
