A group of SMU students participated in the recording of a special year-end feature by Channel NewsAsia, which covered some of the biggest stories and issues of 2015. The programme featured a distinguished panel, in addition to academics, students and various professionals who made up the audience. The panel discussed some of the key issues that have stood out in 2015 around the world, ranging from terrorism (global and regional); regional politics (Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Razak corruption scandal and the Rohingya migrant crisis in Myanmar); international politics (US-China dynamics and the US Presidential election and its impact on Asia); to the significance of the UN Climate Change Conference. SMU undergraduate Ho Wee Seng asked the panel members for their views about China’s Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, which prompted active discussion among the panellists.
