Commenting on the feasibility of a “we first” society, SMU Associate Professor of Sociology Alwyn Lim said that Singapore's increasingly diverse and complex society presents another challenge to this concept. He noted, for instance, the inflow of immigrants in recent decades, as well as the widening divide between those who hold conservative values and those pushing for a more liberal society.
