SMU Chairman and Executive Chairman of Banyan Tree Holdings Ho Kwon Ping and Professor of Public Policy Ann Florini were on a panel to discuss predictions and trends, and identify opportunities and challenges for the coming year. Some of the issues highlighted included China, the growing discontent among young people in Asia, the ASEAN Economic Community, growth prospects in Indonesia and good governance in Asia. Commenting on young people in Asia, Mr Ho said that they are beginning to discover the power of their own voices and that, in his opinion, will be the most optimistic development in the coming years. Prof Florini added that what is striking among the millennials is the kind of jobs they are creating and aspiring towards, and the kinds of pressure they are putting on employers.
