Topic: Jumping Into Their Heads: Youths Who Offend

Abstract:

Over the past few years, youth crime has come up as an important social issue in Singapore.  The Singapore Police Force as well as other social services have increased their efforts in attempting to reduce youth crime. With a move away from punitive justice and towards rehabilitation, it is important to make efforts to better understand youth offending behaviours. This talk will examine motivations behind youth offending as well as cover theories behind how youth offending comes about.
