Abstract:

Mr Farid shares his experiences working with ‘juvenile’ youths in the community for the past 8 years as a social worker. He explains why he thinks youths are pushed towards engaging in at-risk behaviours. He also elaborates on the various factors that contribute to juvenile deliquency and how early identification of these factors may help social service professionals to create better interventions for these youths.

About the
Speaker:
Mr Farid is a senior social worker currently heading the youth work department of a Family Service Centre in Singapore. During his eight years of experience in the sector, Mr Farid has developed various initiatives to engage youths in the community.

Mr Farid has worked with many youths and their families, providing support through casework and counselling as well managing cases that require various forms of intervention. He is experienced in individual work with youths as well as engaging social eco-systems in their lives. He believes that work with youths cannot be done in isolation and advocates for the involvement of parents, teachers and other supportive adults.
