Singapore Management University School of Social Sciences will host the Sixth Annual East-West Philosophy Forum. The theme of this year’s Forum is Wisdom and Knowledge.
Wisdom is of interest to analytic philosophers and scholars studying Asian philosophies alike. The increased interest in wisdom as an epistemic good from analytic epistemologists can be understood as part of a move away in epistemology from a narrow focus on propositional knowledge. Wisdom is also intuitively a particularly valuable epistemic good and difficult to obtain. On these grounds, wisdom has seemed deserving of the increased attention it is now receiving. Nonetheless, some scholars maintain that there is an important conceptual relationship between wisdom and knowledge such that it would be a mistake to research the former without researching the latter. The Sixth Annual East-West Philosophy Forum will bring scholars together to present and further research on wisdom and knowledge. |
